What is 'The Haven'
The Haven has been developed by the management team at Home Matters and aims to provide a safe warm and inviting home for individuals to seek the support and help they need.
During the last few years it has been sad and frustrating to see so many support services close that were once essential support networks for adults at risk. Charities are finding it very difficult to fund their services, which got us to thinking how we could fill that gap.
We have invested a great deal of time money and effort into creating The Haven. We hope that the local community will value the opportunities we provide to assist them to lead fulfilled, independent and valued lives.
What do we do at The Haven ?
We must not forget
The Haven Girls!
How do we fund our Haven activities
We want to ensure our services and activities are not affected by budget cuts and local government changes. To do this we must run The Haven with care, empathy but also as a business.
Whilst The Haven is heavily subsidised by the owners of Home Matters, to ensure its sustainability we have to charge a fair rate to cover some of the costs associated with delivering The Haven activities.
For some people, it will mean paying for their own sessions. Others may be eligible for funding through direct payments or personal budgets. Those in receipt of Personal Independence Payments and Attendance Allowance have told us that they use some of this money to fund their
activities at The Haven.
Home Matters Dementia Support Community Interest Company (CIC)
The Haven is also home to our sister organisation Home Matters Dementia Support CIC. This is a not-for-profit organisation that is run as a Community Interest Company. This specialist service charges a fair rate for services and re-invests any profit for the good of local individuals who are struggling to fund their dementia care. The Dementia CIC is subsidised by our Limited Company and supported greatly by our team of volunteers. They very generously give their time and recognise the value of the service that is provided. The Dementia CIC are currently running sessions 5 days a week. For further information on our popular 'Sunshine Club' please click on the sunflower picture to the side. We grew the most beautiful sunflowers this year and they attracted so many bees we lost count.
